CNC and Robotic Routing for Thermoformed and Rotomolded Parts

Gregstrom uses five-axis CNC or six-axis robotic routers to trim thermoformed and rotomolded parts to their final dimensions. Our routing machines are fast, accurate, and suitable for use with a variety of plastic materials.

Ultrasonic Welding for Thermoformed Parts

Ultrasonic welding is a bonding or joining method for thermoformed parts. To create a solid-state weld, high-frequency ultrasonic acoustic vibrations are applied locally to the workpieces, which are held together under pressure.

Spin Welding for Rotomolded Parts

Gregstrom uses spin welding for leak-free, permanent, custom fittings and ports in rotomolded tanks. After a hole is drilled and a polyethylene fitting inserted, a high speed router spins at 18,000 RPM until melting or fusing occurs. This high-speed plastics welding process is commonly used on waste and water tanks as well as in medical and water treatment applications.

Polyurethane Foam Filling for Hollow Plastic Parts

As a full-service custom rotomolder and heavy-gauge thermoformer, Gregstrom offers polyurethane foam filling for hollow plastic parts that require insulation and/or extra rigidity. Coolers and spine boards are common examples of polyurethane foam-filled plastic parts.

Hot Stamping for Thermoformed and Rotomolded Parts

Hot stamping is a parts marking process that adds identifying information such as logos, labels, or graphics to heavy-gauge thermoformed and custom rotomolded parts. With hot stamping, a heated metal die presses an inked marking foil against the finished part. Gregstrom uses this printing process to add logos, model numbers, warnings, and other messages or information to your formed or molded parts.

Painting, EMI/RFI Shielding, and Silk Screening for Thermoformed Parts

Thermoformed parts can be painted to meet decorative or functional requirements.  They can also be shielded against electromagnetic interference (EMI) or radio frequency interference (EMI), and silk screened to add logos, labels, or graphics. Punch Pressing

Punch pressing or punching forces a special tool called a punch through a plastic part in order to create a hole with a specific shape and dimensions. Applications for this plastic fabrication technique include formed or molded trays that require holes for drainage.
