Plastic quality assurance means that your custom rotomolded parts and heavy-gauge thermoformed parts meet your precise specifications. Ask Gregstrom about how we ensure part quality, and how we use gauges, meters, and portable instruments for inspection and measurement.
Plastic quality assurance at Gregstrom means using highly-accurate QA instruments to ensure that your thermoformed and rotomolded parts meet all of your requirements. In addition to surface plates, digital height gauges, and verniers, our quality control lab uses ultrasonic thickness gauges, Gardner gloss meters, and a portable coordinate measuring machine (CMM) for part metrology.
Dimensional Measurements and Plastic Quality Assurance
Gregstrom uses surface plates as large as 4’ x 8’ as horizontal reference planes for the precision inspection of finished parts and tooling layouts. Digital height gauges measure vertical distances and object heights with speed and accuracy. Vernier scales and calipers support precise measurements of custom rotomolded parts and heavy-gauge thermoformed parts with tight tolerances.
Thickness and Gloss for Rotomolded and Thermoformed Parts
For the non-destructive testing (NDT) of part thickness, Gregrstrom uses ultrasonic thickness gauges. We use Gardner gloss meters to measure surface reflection, and can determine whether gloss or haze levels meet your requirements. As an experienced custom rotomolder and heavy-gauge thermoformer, we understand the importance of both part appearance and functionality.
Stationary Instruments and Portable CMM for 3D Part Metrology
Stationary instruments such as tabletop devices mean bringing a finished part to a QA laboratory. Portable instruments such as CMM arms for 3D metrology support part measurement right on the production floor. This is especially important with larger parts, which is why Gregstrom uses a CMM arm with multiple sensors, laser scanner, and tactile probe.
